Short Story Competition 2020 Shortlist
This is the fifth annual Eyrie Press Short Story Competition and we have again received a record number of entries – 45 in total. Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a story. As ever, we are truly grateful for your support and honoured that you chose to send your creations to us.
John, David and I (Jane) very much enjoyed reading every single entry. It was interesting to see such a wide variety of genres, and we were treated to some excellent writing and some amazing stories. As usual, all the manuscripts were anonymised, so we didn’t know who the writers were.
After scoring the stories individually, we came together to agree the shortlist, and we are delighted to announce that the shortlisted writers are:
Alan Kahn, from Lincolnshire
Kevin Davis, from Lincolnshire
Emma-Rose Hooker, from Norfolk
Ruth Turner, from Cambridgeshire
Mia Hansson, from Cambridgeshire
Amanda Grant, from Suffolk
Congratulations to you all!
Again, we are really pleased to see representation from all the counties across our region. Kevin Davis sent in two submissions, both of which made the shortlist, so seven stories have been sent to the judges, Sue Welfare and Jon Lawrence.
We’ll be announcing the overall winner on Thursday 26th November, and their story will be published in the January issue of The Fens Magazine.
Thank you very much to our judges, Sue and Jon; to The Fens Magazine for partnering with us again; to everyone who shared our posts and spread the word; and especially to everyone who entered. If you missed out on being shortlisted this time, we hope that you’ll be encouraged to give it another go next year.
