Sad news – Eyrie Press is closing down

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Eyrie Press is closing down at the end of this month. Our last trading day will be Tuesday 31 May 2022. These last eight years have been fantastic, and I shall cherish the memories. However, and I know that every other indie publisher will appreciate this, this is an extremely difficult business to be in. I have been running the press almost entirely on a voluntary basis, and due to my own changing circumstances this is no longer feasible. Despite trying several different approaches, it has become apparent that we just do not have the resources needed to develop the business sufficiently to overcome this, so we have no choice but to call it a day. I am eternally grateful to the amazing authors and illustrators I have had the pleasure of working with, and I thank them all for their kind words and support at this sad time. I hope they can find a new future for their books, all of which very much deserve to remain in the world, and I’ll do my best to help them achieve that. Thanks too to my three co-directors, David, John and Jon, for their constant help and support, and to the wonderful indie publishers who have advised and encouraged me along the way. And to everyone else who has been a part of this venture – whether you’ve bought a book, entered the short story competition, written a review, or anything else – THANK YOU! You are awesome 😊 We were delighted that our last venture, the Kickstarter campaign for A Year in my Fenland Kitchen, was a success, so if you backed that, don’t worry! It’s all going ahead and we’ll be fulfilling the rewards on schedule. The shop will remain open on our website until 31 May, and there are some hefty discounts on the paperbacks that are still in stock. And I am delighted to say that the short story competition will be continuing, under slightly different management! The social media accounts will remain active to publicise this, so don’t leave us just yet! With thanks from me, David, John and Jon Jane (Eyrie Press MD)
