Meet illustrator James Robinson

Don’t you just love the illustration above?

When we were looking for an illustrator for our first book, Who’s Not In School?, we were very keen to find someone from within the home educating community. Since the book is about the adventures of Harry, the youngest child of a home educating family, and written by a home educator (Ross Mountney), it made sense. We also wanted to offer our support to someone who might be at the beginning of their career, looking for some valuable on-the-job experience.

We struck gold pretty quickly with James Robinson!

James was just 18 when he worked with us to produce the fantastic illustrations that have garnered so much praise, as well as comparisons with artists such as Shirley Hughes of the wonderful Alfie books.

He also worked on the second book in the Harry series, The Wrong Adventure, and we are delighted to have discovered that he now has an Instagram account so you can go and see his work for yourself.

Below you can see James demonstrating his craft, along with some of my favourites of the illustrations he created for Ross’s books. Then head on over to www.instagram.com/jamesrobinsonartist and follow him. We think he’s fab!
